Jwompa is a radio-style music streaming app with content exclusively curated for African music fans globally.
We provide an alternative to "one-size-fits-all" apps which often lack depth, discoverability, as well as cultural specificity and relevance.
With Jwompa, people of all backgrounds can discover the perfect African music to fit every moment. We cover EXCLUSIVELY: all 5 regions, all 54 African countries, 30+ genres, 2000+ languages, spanning from the 1900s to today.
Jwompa (pronounced // jom-pa //) meaning "Good Music", is derived from the Akan language spoken by the Ashanti & Akuapem people of West Africa.
The Jwompa Curators Program is designed to assemble a team of talented Music Curators to curate African music for a new music startup, Jwompa. On a basic level, curation entails developing playlists for listeners, as well as discovering new music, artists, and sounds.
The duration of this program is: November 2018 - March 2019
(We offer flexibility for university students during exam periods)
What to Expect
Flexible remote (work-from-anywhere). Curators can expect to commit between 5 - 8 hours a week developing playlists and discovering music through our JW Music Portal. This internship is unpaid, however, curators will receive a special benefits package as interns. See more information about the benefits below.
